Attendance

At Holy Family School we recognise the importance of good school attendance and enjoy celebrating this with our pupils and families. Research clearly demonstrates links between regular attendance to school and educational progress and attainment. We will support pupils to ensure they access the best education we can offer and we will work in partnership with parents and carers to help children achieve their maximum potential.

We do understand that absence during term time is sometimes unavoidable, please see below for further guidance or contact the School Office.

Lateness

Arriving at school on time is extremely important, all pupils are required to arrive for registration at 9.00 am in the morning and 1.00 pm in the afternoon. Pupils who arrive late to lessons not only affect their own learning, but also seriously disrupt the learning of others in the class. Children can enter school via the rear playground gate from 8.40 am each morning.

Absence Due To Illness

If children are going to be absent from school due to illness, parents and carers are requested to contact school before 9.10 am on the first day of their child’s absence by telephone or email.

Medical Appointments

If a child needs to attend a medical appointment during the school day, please could parents and carers provide school with some evidence to support the appointment. Children can be collected from/returned to school via the School Office.

Leave Of Absence

We strongly discourage any holiday requests for pupils during term time. Absence requests during term time will not be authorised unless there are exceptional circumstances. A request for any child to be absent from Holy Family School must be formally requested by completing an Absence Request Form. Parents and carers are welcome to contact the School Office with any queries or to discuss this further.
