The Curriculum

A high-quality physical education curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically demanding activities. It should provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.

Our Vision

At Holy Family, our vision is to inspire all of our pupils each day to succeed and excel in both competitive and non-competitive sport, as well as other physically demanding activities. Many of our children are given the opportunity to represent our school in both town and county competitions. We want to provide opportunities for our pupils to become physically literate and confident in a way which supports their health and fitness by offering a range of different clubs and activities for the children to be involved with each day.

Through our PE curriculum, children will not only develop their own fundamental movement skills, such as agility and balance, the learning in this subject also has considerable potential to contribute to the much wider areas of learning, including building character and helping to embed important values such as team work, fairness and respect. Children are also able to learn leadership skills by working with younger children in developing their basic physical skills. This project has been very successful at Holy Family, with many of our young leaders growing in confidence and engaged with different aspects of school life.
